Since 2014, Proton Mail has had a tradition of conducting an annual user survey. In September, we sent the survey link to all users. In case you missed it, this week is the last week to participate in the 2016 edition of our annual encrypted email user survey.
Since Proton Mail is open source software that is now entirely funded by the community, the annual community poll is incredibly important. We exist solely to serve the global community, and the Proton Mail project roadmap for the next year is largely determined by the result of our annual survey. Given the massive growth of the Proton Community in the past year, we expect the 2016 annual survey to be the biggest ever in terms of number of responses.
This year, the survey will be used to guide the design of Proton Mail 4.0, which is already under development. It will also be used to determine the allocation of development resources in 2017 so that financial contributions from the community can be allocated in a way that brings maximum benefit to the community. You can participate in our annual survey at the link below. The poll has 12 questions and takes approximately 3 minutes to complete [poll now closed].
The annual surveys are also a way to stimulate discussions within the community about the future path of Proton Mail’s public services, so we look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments below, or on Twitter, Facebook or Reddit:

If you would like to directly contribute to the development of the numerous new features mentioned in the 2016 survey, you can do so by upgrading to a paid plan. All of Proton Mail’s operating budget comes from contributions from the public, and your contribution allows us to increase the size of our team and build features faster. With your support, we look forward to continuing to improve Proton Mail in 2017 and beyond!
